Frequently Asked Questions

What Exactly is a Revue?

A Revue is like a burst of laughter that comes to life on stage! It's a hilarious sketch comedy show crafted by our very own talented students, for students. At the University of Sydney, this fantastic tradition has been running for over 25 years. Revues come in various flavours, including Identity Revues (celebrating Queer, People of Colour, and Womn) and Faculty Revues (exploring the Science, Law, and Medicine communities).

How Can I Become Part of a Revue?

Joining the Revue action is a breeze. First, you need to be a member of the USU (University of Sydney Union). Once that's sorted, fill out our easy Jotform, and we'll be in touch faster than you can say "standing ovation!"

Do I Need to Belong to a Particular Faculty to Join Faculty Revues?

Whether you're from Science, Arts, or any faculty, campus, or university, you're welcome to jump into the Faculty Revue fun—all that's required is USU membership!

The only exception is Med Revue, where you have to be a Med student to join in.

Is Prior Acting, Stage, or Singing Experience Necessary?

Absolutely not! Revues are all about unleashing your inner entertainer and having a blast. Singing, acting, dancing, & writing sketches —it's a stage where you can try it all, regardless of your experience. If the spotlight isn't your thing (yet), there are plenty of other ways to shine behind the scenes on the executive team, tech crew, or as part of the production team.

What Types of Revues Are There?

Revues come in two main categories:

· Identity Revues: Celebrating diversity with dedicated shows like Womn's Revue, People of Colour Revue, and Queer Revue.

· Faculty Revues: Exploring the quirky and unique aspects of different faculties, including Science, Law, and Medicine.

When and Where Are Revues Held?

Revues are a year-round extravaganza! Typically, Identity Revues take the stage in Weeks 9-11 of Semester 1, while Faculty Revues light up the show in Weeks 5-8 of Semester 2. You can catch all the hilarity at the prestigious Seymour Centre.

Do I Have to Perform to Get Involved in a Revue?

Not at all! There are many ways to be part of the Revue magic:

· Join the tech team and master the art of lighting, mics, and stage management.

· Get creative with the exec team, working on treasury, marketing, and events.

· Dive into production and help with directing, producing, costumes, set design, and more.

· If you're musically inclined, consider joining the band.

· And there are even more roles waiting for you!

So, whether you're the next Broadway star or just looking for a unique way to make lifelong memories, Revues at USYD have a place for you! Come join the fun, and let's create some unforgettable moments together!
