The VTeam is our vibrant community of student volunteers on campus
Volunteering is a great way to get involved in your campus community, make new friends and level up your skills. There are heaps of opportunities throughout the year, across campus to get involved. From Welcome Fest to FoodHub to the VTutor program, there's something for everyone to pitch into! We've also partnered with local NGO organisations to extend our reach beyond campus.
Plus, collect points for shifts that you can then redeem for USYD Store merch, gift vouchers, barista courses and more. Beef up your resume while having a good time - what more could you ask for?
Volunteering initiatives
VMates: Welcome Fest events
Kick off your semester with a bang by volunteering at Welcome Fest – USU’s biggest and most exciting event of the year! As a Welcome Fest VTeamer, you’ll help run activations, direct crowds and be the friendly face new students meet when they first arrive at uni. You can also volunteer at Welcome events such as Welcome to Sydney Party, Day Trips and Campus Race. Whether you’re a first year or seasoned student, Welcome Fest is the perfect way to feel the buzz of campus coming to life and start your sem off strong.

Skills gained include: overall event operations (including ticketing, crowd control, cloakroom, food handling, etc.), customer service, time management, proactive thinking and more.
VSave: Cost-of-living initiatives
Have an hour or two break between your classes? Come volunteer at one of our Student Saver initiatives including FoodHub and Bonus Breakfast. Volunteering at a cost-of-living intiative is a great way to give back to your campus community while scoring some free meals and groceries. It's a win-win!

VTutor: Mentorship and tutoring for foster kids

VLeaders: Leadership program
Are you a VTeamer who's ready for more?
VTeam is also a great avenue to build up your leadership skills. We train our future leaders through the Level Up Leadership Academy, where VTeamers can expand their skillsets, network with industry leaders and learn how to translate their university experiences into career opportunities.
VLeaders will also help shape the program for future cohorts.

Some of my favourite memories at uni have come from being part of VTeam. It wasn't just about helping out at events, it was the random conversations, seeing familiar faces around campus, and sharing laughs with an incredible team. Looking back, I've realised it's often the little things, like welcoming a new student or simply taking the time to chat, that can make someone's day. Knowing I've been able to play a small part in creating that kind of experience has made VTeam one of the most rewarding parts of my university journey.

Being a VTeamer was an incredibly rewarding and memorable experience! I loved being part of such a passionate team and contributing to initiatives like Bonus Meals, Laneway Canteen and Welcome Week. Seeing the positive impact on students and their smiles made it all so worthwhile. I am truly grateful for the friendships I built and the valuable teamwork and customer service skills I gained. I highly recommend joining VTeam!
