Alexandra Jonscher is an artist exploring the frontiers of painting in the post-digital age, producing work that crosses painting, photo-media, digital art, sculpture, and installation.
Her practice explores what it means to be human in our current digital age as she collaborates with software, algorithms, AI and machines to create uncanny abstractions. Her work is in conversation with the histories of painting, digital art and Internet culture, exploring how to blend these reference points into what she thinks of as ‘simulated paintings’ that translate artificial materials into tangible objects.
Her bold, layered works invite viewers to look closely, to sift through their fragments and layers of information to find the human presence quietly lurking beneath the surface and behind the screen.
"The USU Creative Awards was the first time I ever saw my work hung in a gallery. It’s a great opportunity when you’re just starting out to get a feel for hanging and exhibiting your work. I was so nervous, but I learned so much through the process. The team at Verge are so supportive and made those early experiences really fun and special. I highly recommend giving it a go!"
