Award Categories
Dave Burnett – Large Club (>150 members)
This award recognises a club or society that excels in achieving its core aims through innovative initiatives, delivers an outstanding program of events in 2025, actively collaborates with the USU community, and demonstrates creativity in engaging members and the broader community with measurable success and strong supporting evidence.
Dave Burnett – Small Club (<150 members)
This award recognises a club or society that excels in achieving its core aims through innovative initiatives, delivers an outstanding program of events in 2025, actively collaborates with USU’s and broader community, and demonstrates creativity in engaging members and the broader community with measurable success and strong supporting evidence.
Best New Club (since October 2024)
This award recognises a new club established since October 2024 that has successfully achieved its aims through innovative initiatives, delivered an outstanding events program for its members, and significantly increased exposure for the USU by attracting and engaging a fresh audience with clear membership growth strategies.
Best Revue
This award is not entirely based on the quality of the show or how many tickets sold but the overall experience of being in a Revue club. It will aim to acknowledge Revues who are building a community within their club and looking for innovative ways to advertise themselves or their show.
Best Community Club Builder of the Year
Awarded to a club that consistently encourages belonging, inclusivity, and meaningful participation. Not only within their own membership but also across the wider club network. This club actively builds relationships across faculties, identities, and interests; and plays a significant role in strengthening the broader club community.
Best Executive Team
This award honours an executive team that demonstrates exceptional governance and club management, drives meaningful membership growth, delivers accessible and inclusive events, maintains clear and timely communication with USU staff, promotes strong teamwork, and actively pursues ongoing training to enhance their club’s success.
Best Executive Group Photo
This award recognises the best executive group photo that showcases perfect composition with balanced spacing and full visibility of all members. It highlights consistent, engaged expressions, a complementary background, and clear visual elements that strongly represent the society’s aims, purpose, and shared values.
Best Executive
This award celebrates an outstanding club executive who demonstrates effective leadership by collaborating well with teams and stakeholders, champions inclusivity and diversity, completes key leadership training, and actively contributes to both their club’s success and the wider USU community.
Best Club Photo of the Year
This award celebrates the best club photo of the year that authentically captures the spirit and activities of the club or society. It recognises genuine, well-composed images that clearly depict events, have been submitted for the ClubCommunities program, and have achieved strong audience engagement.
Best Promotional Video
This award recognises a promotional video that clearly conveys its aims and call to action, demonstrates strong visual design principles aligned with its message, and achieves outstanding engagement across multiple channels, effectively capturing the audience’s attention and inspiring response.
Best Design
* May include, social media images, posters, banners, website design
This award recognises the most engaging and original design work across social media, posters, banners, or website design, that effectively delivers information or marketing goals. It celebrates outstanding visual creativity, clarity, and user experience, demonstrated through high-quality design that drives strong engagement and positive impact within their Club community.
Best Merchandise Design
This award recognises a merchandise design that is creative and original, clearly communicates the society’s identity and aims, and showcases a unique concept that effectively represents the club’s values while maintaining a strong visual connection to the society.
Best Publication
*May include periodical journals, magazines, digital publications or newsletters, anthologies, guidebooks. The publication must be in English.
This award recognises a publication (such as a journal, magazine, newsletter, or guidebook) that showcases original, inspiring content with a strong and creative editorial theme. It excels in accessibility and inclusivity, high-quality design, and aligns closely with the club’s aims and member interests.
Best Small Event
This award recognises a small event (Less than 100 attendees) that excels in attracting strong attendance, ensures accessibility and inclusivity for all students, creates an experience closely aligned with the club’s aims, implements an effective and creative marketing plan, and stands out through its originality and innovative approach.
Best Large Event
This award recognises a large-scale event (such as a ball, cruise, camp, or multi-day competition) with strong attendance and exceptional accessibility. It celebrates events that deliver meaningful experiences aligned with the club’s aims, implement innovative marketing strategies, demonstrate originality, and maintain thorough coordination with the USU Clubs office.
Best Joint Event
This award recognises a joint event that successfully meets the aims of all participating clubs through strong collaboration in planning, coordination, and promotion. It celebrates effective teamwork and marketing efforts that drive high member participation and attendance, showcasing the power of united club partnerships.
Best Performance/Showcase
*not for Revue societies nor to be submitted in conjunction with any other event Award
This award recognises a performance or showcase that attracts strong attendance, ensures accessibility and inclusivity, and delivers a meaningful experience aligned with the club’s aims. It highlights innovative marketing strategies and celebrates exceptional originality and creativity in concept and execution.
Best Equity, Diversity & Inclusion Initiative
This award recognises clubs that create meaningful impact through social justice and community engagement, whether by advocating for equity and access, supporting marginalised groups, or building partnerships for change. It celebrates efforts in sustainability, inclusive practices that champions belonging, initiatives that support student wellbeing and mental health, and charitable or volunteer work that uplifts others and contributes to the greater good.
