The Tutoring Troop encompasses the School Tutoring Program (STP) and the International Student Lounge's (ISL) English Workshops. Students with a passion for helping others can become involved with our two education based programs.
The STP and Free English Workshops require a weekly commitment for a full semester.
The School Tutoring Program is a free program designed to support and motivate year 11 and 12 high school students with their studies towards their HSC. STP is a highly rewarding experience for volunteers looking to help their community and to develop their teaching and educational skills. Conducted throughout semester, volunteer tutors will be partnered with a high school student and together you will participate in a weekly 1-hour tutoring session at the university.
The ISL's English Workshops are free casual discussion group designed to help international students practice conversational English, discuss Australian culture, learn Aussie slang and meet new people.
The workshops run from 2-3pm on Tuesday and Thursdays throughout each semester however you only need commit to one time slot. To take part you must be a native Australian speaker, ideally Aussie!
As a Tutoring Troop member of the V Team you have access to the V Team Reward Program, can enjoy free snacks while taking part and be in with the chance of winning the coveted Volunteer of the Year Award where the top prize is $1,000.
