USYD Comedy Society Inaugural General Meeting

The USYD Comedy Society is holding its Inaugural General Meeting (IGM) to officially establish the society under the University of Sydney Union (USU). This meeting will mark the beginning of a vibrant community dedicated to stand-up comedy, improvisation, sketch writing, and comedy appreciation on campus.

All students are welcome to attend and participate in the discussion and executive elections.

1. OPENING AND WELCOME

The Chair (provisional convenor) will open the meeting, introduce the purpose of the

IGM, and welcome all attendees.

2. APOLOGIES AND LEAVES OF ABSENCE

To note any apologies received and record members unable to attend.

3. MOTION/S ON NOTICE

Motion 1: That the USYD Comedy Society adopts the proposed Constitution in accordance

with USU regulations.

4. ELECTION OF EXECUTIVES

Appointment of Returning Officer

A Returning Officer will be appointed to oversee the election process.

Nominations will be considered and voted on for the following executive

positions:

⚫ President

⚫ Vice President

⚫ Secretary

⚫ Treasurer

⚫ Events Director

⚫ Marketing and Media Director

[Nominations will be taken from the floor, and candidates will be elected through anonymous voting by other members]

Each nominee should include:

⚫ Full name and SID

⚫ Position applied for

⚫ A short (max 150 words) statement of interest and relevant experience

5. GENERAL BUSINESS

⚫ Nomination of Bank Signatories

⚫ Discussion of proposed events for Semester 1, 2026

⚫ Open floor for member suggestions and collaboration opportunities

6. DATE OF THE NEXT MEETING

The date and agenda for the first General Meeting (GM) of 2025 will be discussed.

7. CLOSE OF MEETING

The Chair will formally close the meeting
