A kickoff meeting to launch the Sydney Policy Institute. Hear our vision, vote on the constitution, elect the founding exec team, and shape our 2025 projects. All students are welcome, and no prior experience is needed.

Appointment of Returning Officer

Nominations will be considered and voted on for the following positions:

• President

• Secretary

• Treasurer

• Vice President

• 2 Policy Directors

• Event Director

• Outreach Director

• Marketing director

• Digital & Design editor

• 2 General Executive

Nominations will be taken from the floor.

Detailed Instructions of Election Procedure

1. Appoint a Returning Officer (RO)

• Chosen during the IGM and recorded on the USU Portal with their USU number.

• The RO cannot be a candidate, cannot nominate or second anyone, and cannot vote.

2. Take nominations (in the meeting)

• RO confirms each nominee agrees to stand.

• RO records each nominee’s USU ID and adds them to the election in the USU Portal.

• Record the mover and seconder for each nomination in the minutes.

• If constitution requires, allow brief questions/speeches.

3. Conduct the vote

• Run the vote using your own poll, and it must be anonymous.

• Only after quorum is met (15 members present within 30 minutes) should the meeting and voting proceed.

4. Declare and record results

• The RO announces the successful nominee(s).

• The RO updates the winner(s) on the USU Portal.

• Ensure the minutes capture the outcome for each position.
