As a dedicated athlete on the GWS reserves team, cricket enthusiast, and provisional Chartered Accountant pursuing a Juris Doctor degree, I embody loyalty and courage in all aspects of my life. My non-executive board role at a local arts centre in Perth (MAC Inc) showcases my commitment to community engagement and cultural enrichment. Develop a university-wide program that seeks to bridge the gap between international and domestic students fostering a sense of community within our diverse university demographic.
Implement greater careers and professional advice that supports students and bridges the gap between theoretical study and practical experience. Examples include financial literacy courses, wellbeing support and careers counselling.
Enliven our bars and clubs with greater social presence and activations around campus that ensure the student experience is optimal for everyone.
Reduce food and beverage prices on campus through contracting providers/suppliers who can offer greater deals and packages at student-affordable rates.
Encourage more interplay between faculties such as social sport, competitions, multicultural events.
Commit to financial education training provided by USU that is available to all students to learn key skills such as budgeting, savings, investing, etc.
Describe the key roles and responsibilities of a USU Board Director
As a Director, it is imperative to exemplify and uphold exceptional governance, accountability and collaboration. The ability to communicate, debate and put forward ideas with passion and a sense of community is crucial to the success of a functioning governance body that makes timely decisions for the betterment of its members. Being accountable to USU members and the wider university body is the bedrock of a successful director ensuring at all times that the representation and voices of the members and heard and actioned upon.
How will you ensure that you can commit the time required to be an effective Board Director?
I will prioritise weekly my tasks as a Director ensuring I'm accountable to my fellow Board members and student body. Delegated responsibilities and acitoning "spot-fires" will be of highest importance and clearing my schedule to attend monthly Board meetings will be imperative. I will constantly communicate with my fellow board members and take time weekly to listen to the voices of my peers to ensure our governance body reflects the current needs of our members.
How will you represent the best interests of the student community, while also representing the best interests of the USU?
As a liaison between the student community and the USU, I prioritise transparent communication, leveraging my understanding of finances and strategic decision-making to ensure student needs are met while aligning with the organisation's goals. By fostering relationships with students and staff, I gather diverse perspectives, advocating for initiatives that benefit both parties. Balancing student interests and organisational objectives, I aim to create a harmonious and thriving university environment.

Improving cultural integration programs within the USU can foster inclusivity and understanding among international and domestic students. By facilitating interactions, language exchange, and cultural events, we bridge gaps, enriching the university's diversity.This initiative not only enhances the student experience but also promotes a global perspective, preparing students for an interconnected world. Strengthening bonds between international and domestic students fosters a vibrant campus community, enriching learning and collaboration opportunities for all.
