3) Here for Community
United by education, the USU connects people from different backgrounds and lived experiences. The USU doesn’t make a strong student community, it represents a strong student community! I will keep the USUs focused on students, supporting a strong community.

Describe the key roles and responsibilities of a USU Board Director.
I am excited to support the students at USYD as a USU Director. My role is clear:
- Every student’s voice can be heard
- Students are the focus of the USU
- Great support for USU Clubs/Societies
- The USU looks for more opportunities to support students
By working with Clubs/Societies to understand their needs and speaking with students, I will be responsible for raising issues with the USU and working with the USU to deliver solutions. My responsibility is ensuring the USU never loses sight of student’s needs and Club/ Society Support.
How will you ensure that you can commit the time required to be an effective Board Director?
I look forward to bringing my experience in supporting Clubs and Societies to the USU. I am committed to meeting with Clubs/Societies and speaking to students regularly. As a USU Director, I will use USU meetings to raise the concerns of Students and Clubs/Societies and put forward solutions to ensure the USU takes action to address these concerns.
How will you represent the best interests of the student community, while also representing the best interests of the USU?
The best interests of the USU are served by representing the best interests of the student community. Where this is not the case, I will work to align both the USU and student community interest – achieving positive outcomes and addressing important issues.
Identify an area of the USU where you would like to see improvement and explain how this will be of benefit to the organisation and/or students.
Change in the USU brings uncertainty. The USU is currently considering (at the time of writing) important changes including changing to an incorporated association. Having supported member and Clubs/Societies through significant changes at Scouts Australia my experience will help guide the USU and ensure student issues always remain focus.
