Other Interests
Living in five different countries has truly opened my eyes and heart to the beauty of diverse cultures, shaping me into someone deeply appreciative of what every individual brings to the table. Alongside this journey, my love for diving into new experiences has seen me wearing many hats just for the sheer joy of it. I've poured my creativity into drawing comics for my blog, crafting beats that I shared on SoundCloud, and even sharing bits of my life and passions on TikTok, where I connected with an amazing community of 130,000 followers!

Candidate Policy Statement
Hi guys!!! I'm Daniel, aspiring to be your next USU Board Director. I plan to enrich our campus experience with these policies:

Promoting Student Well-Being:
I propose the "Every Mind Matters" initiative, offering 24/7 mental health support through online counselling and workshops focused on stress management, resilience building, and mental wellness.

Financial Sustainability:
To ensure the USU's financial health, I aim to introduce innovative funding strategies like a "Campus Innovation Fund," encouraging students and staff to propose and vote on projects that enhance campus life. This approach will not only secure financial resources but also empower our community to shape their university experience.

Cultural and Social Engagement:
I want to initiate an "Inter-Cultural Exchange Program," where students can sign up for language exchange, cultural workshops, and international mentorship schemes.

My vision is to create an environment where cultural diversity is actively celebrated and every student has the support to succeed. Let’s work together to make our campus a thriving, inclusive community!

"Dare to Dream Daniel" – Cultivating a campus where every dream has the space to grow and flourish.

Describe the key roles and responsibilities of a USU Board Director
I feel that it would really be about looking out for our students and guiding how the Student Union runs. It’s about setting the direction we’re heading in, making sure that we are on solid financial ground, and keeping an eye on how things are going at the university. I also believe that it will be important to spend time chatting with students and staff, getting to know what’s on their minds, and pushing for changes that can make a difference. Ultimately, I believe that it will be about teaming up with the other board members to improve student life.

How will you ensure that you can commit the time required to be an effective Board Director?
Stepping into the Board Director role is genuinely exciting for me because I'm eager to make decisions that will enrich the university experience for my fellow students, aiming for them to have an even better time than I have had. I'm fully committed to dedicating the necessary time to this role, ensuring I balance it well with my other commitments. I plan to maintain strong connections with my team and the university community to effectively manage our shared responsibilities. I'm fortunate to have supportive friends who inspire and encourage me, enhancing my capacity to contribute meaningfully to our shared goals.

How will you represent the best interests of the student community, while also representing the best interests of the USU?
I believe that what's good for our students is good for the USU. My plan is to chat with students, using forums and surveys to really get what they need and want. Then, I'll align the USU's efforts directly with these insights. It’s all about making our campus life better and more supportive for everyone. With open talks and clear decisions, we’ll make sure the USU reflects our students' voices, creating a thriving place where we all grow together. It's about making our shared space a win-win for everyone.

Identify an area of the USU where you would like to see improvement and explain how this will be of benefit to the organisation and/or students
I propose enhancing the mental health and wellness services of the University Student Union (USU). This improvement would benefit students by providing accessible support, improving their well-being, academic success, and personal growth. For the USU, it shows a commitment to holistic student care, enhancing its reputation and fostering a supportive campus culture. Better mental health resources can lead to higher student satisfaction and retention. Implementing this change involves expanding counselling services, offering workshops, and creating comprehensive wellness programs, addressing the diverse needs of students and ensuring a thriving, inclusive university community.
