Describe the key roles and responsibilities of a USU Board Director.

A USU Board Director's key roles and responsibilities include promoting the interests of the membership body and the university community. This is done by attending board meetings as a representative of students and attending and promoting USU events that contribute to a positive university culture, including events such as Welcome Fest, Someday Soon and Festival of Creativity. They must be willing to work positively with other Board members and the University community.

How will you ensure that you can commit the time required to be an effective Board Director?

I will ensure that I can commit the time required to be an effective Board Director by staying on top of all events and meetings throughout the term. For example, I will ensure I am at all Board Meetings, which are usually held on the last Friday of every month. I have both a flexible University timetable and work timetable, so I can take time off if needed to undertake my duties as a Board Director if elected.

How will you represent the best interests of the student community, while also representing the best interests of the USU?

I can represent both interests by listening to people eagerly and without judgement, to ensure that I understand where the best interests of the student community lie. I am willing to learn about differing opinions and relay them back to the USU to ensure that the USU can create action on what students think is most important. Furthermore, I am willing to focus purely on the USU as a service provider rather than an activist space to represent the community and the USU's best interests.

Identify an area of the USU where you would like to see improvement and explain how this will be of benefit to the organisation and/or students.

I would like to see improvement in FoodHub. Many of my policies focus on expanding this great initiative, as I think it would be extremely beneficial to students who are struggling with the high cost of living. It will be of benefit to the organisation as it will promote the nature of the USU as a service provider, and will provide relief to those students who need it the most. Even a simple solution such as expanding opening hours by 2 hours can provide a massive relief to students in need.
