University of Sydney (USYD) Young Vinnies Society
The Sydney University Young Vinnies Society (SUYV) is committed to fostering a culture of compassion, service and community within the University of Sydney. We aim to inspire students to take meaningful action to make a real difference in the lives of disadvantaged people in the community.
Supported by the USU and St Vincent de Paul, SUYV provides a range of volunteer opportunities for students interested in giving back to their community while broadening their perspectives and forming lasting friendships. Through our range of programs and social events throughout the year, our members work together to support vulnerable people across Sydney.
Highlights of 2025 included the Winter Sleepout in the Sydney University Quad to raise money and awareness for those experiencing homelessness, as well as our annual Vinnies Ball. We also hold events in collaboration with other societies to meet even more people.
In 2026, we will be running the following regular volunteer programs:
Night Patrol – Wednesdays monthly
- An eye-opening experience involving helping distribute food and other essential supplies to people experiencing homelessness in Sydney.
Brekky Van – Sundays monthly
- A sociable experience involving serving breakfast and chatting with members of the community through our mobile breakfast services.
Buddies Days
- A heartwarming opportunity to volunteer with kids experiencing hardship by providing them with a fun day out. Dates on our Instagram.
