The University of Sydney UNDERWATER EXPLORERS Society
A underwater explorer is someone who investigates the underwater world for the thrill of it, or other things like ecological research, biology, cartography, archeology, treasure hunting, photography or sport. We do a couple events a month like casual scuba dives, open water courses, free diving courses, ocean cleanups, good old snorkeling days and the occasional piss up. These have limited room so we don't overcrowd a spot so keep your eyes and ears peeled and get onto them quick. We advertise these trips with posters around uni and on our instagram which is underwater_explorers_society. We are partnered with Infinity Dive who who we use for all our scuba activities at pretty amazing discounts (infinitydive.com). We will use Mother Ocean for freediving (motheroceanfreediving.com). And we run our own 'snorkeling' missions. We're happy to answer questions so give us a text.
Join the society so you can meet other people who are into being in the ocean. Experience doesn't matter we've got spare masks for snorkeling, you can rent gear for dives and we break up snorkeling into confident and less confident groups (we've got you). However, experience around the ocean is great. Diving qualifications will give you a headstart on access to casual scuba dives, wetsuits are incredible things and a prekindled adoration for the underwater world is fantastic. Our vision is to create a community of divers at usyd who encourage each other to get out more, share tips and push each other to become better divers and humans… So sign up. The 5 bucks go towards funding events (you don't need to be a member to come snorkeling but you do to get discounted dives).
We're keen to see you out there.
I'd like to be,
Under the sea,
In an octopus' garden,
In the shade.
