Sydney University, Ahlul-Bayt Society

The Sydney University Ahlul-Bayt Society includes students from the Shia sect of Islam coming together and bonding over similar beliefs and faith. This society had previously been offered by the university, however unfortunately dissolved after an ineffective handover. However, after speaking with several students from several faculties, we believe we have the numbers and the passion to rekindle the society.

Our club aims to be a supportive society to foster growth and connectedness between students that fall under the Ahlul-Bayt sect, by providing them with Shia-centered events, for the several faithful months and weeks of the year. We also want to provide them with religious amenities, such as prayer items and books that are currently not available on the Sydney University campus, thus embracing acceptance of the sect on campus. Additionally, we plan to speak with the Ahlul-Bayt Societies of Western Sydney University and Macquarie University, and hope to plan events with them to form inter-university relationships with students and staff.
