Student Urbanism Society
Welcome to the Student Urbanism Society – a community for University of Sydney students passionate about urbanism. Connect with like-minded peers, build industry relationships, and explore the dynamics and futures of our cities.
We're a student-led organisation at the School of Architecture, Design, and Planning for anyone interested in the urban environment and related disciplines. We aim to bring students closer to professionals in urbanism, urban planning, urban design, heritage conservation, policymaking, etc. by providing a platform to collaborate, connect, learn, and grow. In addition to networking opportunities offered through symposiums, panel discussions, competitions, career fairs, and more, we also offer opportunities for students to come together and take a breather from busy university schedules through movie screenings, heritage walks, and other casual events.
We offer a range of events to provide our members with opportunities to connect with ADP peers and industry professionals:
- Networking opportunities with peers and academics in ADP as well as industry professionals.
- Movie screenings of movies and documentaries to take a breather from busy university life.
- Guided walks to explore the historical roots and the urban landscape of Sydney.
- Discussions to collaborate and exchange ideas and experiences.
- Plenty of other things to do – think fun events, activities and more social opportunities!
And beyond the events listed above, we have plenty of plans for 2025:
- Interdisciplinary design challenges
- Careers Centre collaboration + more careers events/panel discussions
- Urbanism magazine – with a working title of ‘Urban Culture’
- Recycling initiative (with the Sustainable Design Society)
- Collaboration with other ADP societies
- …And more!
