Sri Lankan Society
Founded in 2018, the Sri Lankan Society was originally formed so that fellow Sri Lankans could experience a piece of their home away from home. We are a society that has members of many different nationalities that come together to celebrate and share rich Sri Lankan culture with the Sydney Uni community. Sri Lanka is a small country known as ‘The Pearl of the Indian Ocean’ famous for its beautiful tropical island climate, delicious food and Ceylonese Tea. Being a popular holiday destination, Sri Lankans sure know how to have a great time, so by joining out society, you can be sure to expect some fun, action-packed events with a classic Sri Lankan twist. Our society has almost 40 members so everyone knows each other, which makes hanging out at events all the more fun!
Join us to be a part of a tight-knit, family-like community that sure knows how to have a great time – Sri Lankan style.
We celebrate all the major Sri Lankan festivals, and also collaborate with other universities around Sydney to have our annual ‘Baila Night’ party.
We have official monthly meet-ups, and plenty of other members meet up for casual hangout sessions, which even include friends from societies of other universities.
