2021 Welcome Fest FAQs

When is USU Welcome Fest?

USU Welcome Fest will be held during week 1 of semester:

Monday 1 March to Thursday 4 March, 10am-3pm

Not to be confused with University of Sydney Orientation activities that are taking place the

week prior.

Is it online or in-person?

Your club can register for an in-person stall or provide content for our online festival. We

suggest you do both!

How are club stalls being allocated?

Each Club will be allocated a stall for one day ONLY.

Your allocated day will be emailed directly to you by the Clubs and Societies office.
The location of your stall will be on the Front Lawns. Its precise location will be sent to you at a
later date.

The festival is smaller in size, so to accommodate as many clubs as possible, your club will be
allocated a stall for one day. Stalls will be cleaned overnight for COVID safety and ready for a
different club the next day.

Can my club have a stall for more than one day?

Unfortunately due to COVID restrictions we are limited in the number of stalls we can have

each day. However, if there are cancellations or spare stalls, you can request to join a waitlist

for an additional day.

How do I join the waitlist?

Email clubs@usu.edu.au with the subject line: Welcome Fest Waitlist

Can I pick which day my club is allocated?

Unfortunately not. Clubs will be allocated a day with other clubs of similar interests and taking

COVID safety into account, we aim to distribute the larger clubs evenly across the week.

Will my stall have power?

Stalls will not have power this year, so remember to bring your laptop fully charged.

Can I hold an in-person event during Welcome Fest?

We understand you are eager to receive an update regarding events this semester. We will be

in touch with ALL clubs regarding this shortly.

Can I hold an online event during Welcome Fest?

Yes and we encourage you to do so! You will receive a link to a form in the email confirming

your club stall day, please complete the form to let us know the details and we can include your

event in our Welcome Fest schedule on the USU webpage and social media.

I've submitted a video for my club, where will these be played?

Club videos will be played on USU’s social media and YouTube with links available on the USU webpage, you are also welcome to play your video on your own social media.

How is the USU managing COVID safety at Welcome Fest?

The USU is working closely with the University of Sydney and local authorities to make sure all

safety protocols are being followed. There will be trained COVID Marshals on-site at all times

and QR code scanning will be mandatory at all Welcome Fest venues. Club stalls will also be

cleaned overnight between each club. Clubs will be briefed on COVID safety protocols prior to

the event.

What funding will my Club be entitled to?

We understand this is a big question for 2021 and that you are all eager for an update, please

be assured this is our number one priority and we are working to get this information to you as

soon as possible.

What happens if there are last minute changes?

COVID restrictions are regularly changing, if the USU needs to make any last minute changes to

Welcome Fest your club will be contacted directly. This will be via direct email to those

registered for Welcome Fest, ClubSuite notifications and USU social media channels.
