Every semester the University of Sydney welcomes thousands of international students to study and experience the wonders of Sydney lifestyle and Australian culture.

Volunteers with great local knowledge are needed to help facilitate social activities throughout the semester that aim to help international students feel welcomed to Sydney.

If you love being social and meeting new people from around the world, it's the perfect fit for you.

Roles and Duties

Campus Race

Help to facilitate epic campus-wide scavenger hunts for the newly arrived students as either a Group Leader or Station Master! This role is extremely fun
and requires social and energetic volunteers who are confident leading a large group. The next Campus Race is on Thursday, 19 July.

Sydney
Day Trips

Help students settle in to their new home at one of ISL’s biggest events. You can either lead students across Sydney in epic tours as a Group Leader or assist in the registration process as a Registration Officer. Group Leaders will receive specialised training on how to run guided tours to one of our three locations. The next Sydney Day Trip is on Tuesday, 24 July.

Australian Discussion Group

ADG Facilitators are local Aussie students who speak English as a first language and are comfortable helping small groups of students practice English. This is a long-term role but incredibly fun and rewarding, so applicants must be willing to commit to the role. Students studying Education will be favourably considered upon application. You'll be required to volunteer once a week during semester.

ISL Social Events

Social butterflies with a knack for organisation will thrive as our ISL Event Assistants. You'll be assisting in our regular social events designed to introduce international students to the fun aspects of Aussie culture and campus life, such as BBQs, picnics, food outings and our Club and Society events! You can also be a part of our iconic ISL events such as Crafternoon our Table Tennis Comp.

* Applicants will be considered based on a set of criteria which differs from role to role. Please note you are not required to participate in all listed roles.
