Bright Ideas applications will be assessed based on its ability to meet the following:

  • Foster membership of, and participation in, the USU, in the spirit of universal student unionism.

  • Facilitate the social, cultural, and recreational activities of USU members, especially (but not exclusively) within USU facilities.

  • Promote the personal, intellectual, cultural and social development of USU members by providing opportunities to share talents, interests and ideas.

  • Create opportunities and foster initiatives that develop the knowledge, skills, and confidence of USU members

  • Develop projects that promote the interests and welfare of USU members and members of the university community, including projects that challenge all forms of discrimination and harassment, promote the safety of our community, and promote environmentally sustainable practices and behaviour.

  • Enable the pursuit of extra-curricular projects that are beyond the scope of existing USU programs and events.

  • Encourage the highest standard of creativity and excellence.
