Sydney University Italian Society
The Italian Society has been proudly celebrating the Italian culture for 12 years within Sydney University and the wider Sydney area. We aim to educate and encourage enthusiasm for the Italian language, arts, culture and community among our members. The Italian Society is welcome to all, and is definitely not restricted to those of Italian background, any proficiency in the language or a student in the Italian Studies Department. Our members represent a diverse cross-section of the university, as we encourage anyone who’d like to meet new people, learn about the Italian culture or the language to attend! We host weekly events, offering members the opportunity to dabble in a few rounds of Italian card games while sipping your preferred hot beverage and making the nonni proud. We run coordinated intercultural events with other university societies and attend publicly-organised Italian cultural events like the Lavazza Film Festival and Ferragosto. Our highlights of the year are our bi-annual Aperitivo Nights filled with antipasti, pizza, free-flowing wine and Aperol Spritzes to enjoy. We publish a monthly newsletter that everyone can stay up to date with all Italian events, the Executive team and other trending news or pop culture in Italy.
