The University of Sydney Union Alumni and Friends Association (USUAF) is part of the University of Sydney’s Alumni Network. USUAF (formerly ‘USU Foundation’) has since 1966 supported the Union through networking opportunities, mentoring and celebrating cultural achievements of the Union community.
The USUAF is a group of friends and alumni of the Union, past and present, and aims to maintain a sense of continuity between students, alumni and the wider community. At the behest of the Union Board, USUAF provides support and assistance in the areas of stakeholder relations and strategic advice. Those involved in the USUAF enjoy the benefits of staying in contact with the USU alumni and friends community with news, activities and events hosted by the Union and the University.
Professor the Reverend Charles Badham, President of the Men’s Union said it best in his address to members on 16th April 1875. “Every bond which knits the students together – every pursuit in which the students of former times have fellowship with the students of today are signs of that natural sympathy and union of spirit which is a guarantee of the strength and permanence of the body which it pervades.”
As an alumni and friend of the Union, you have a highly valuable role as the Union and University’s ambassador long after your time on campus. The most important amongst these is to stay in touch – keep us up-to-date with your contact details for post and email. As alumni, you can also engage with us by reading the USU e-news, Sydney Alumni Magazine (SAM) and the monthly e-Sydney news; check out the events on our website to see what is going on and join in events you may be interested to attend. You are also welcome to join our regular general meetings that take place throughout the year on Camperdown campus. For details about the meeting schedule, please contact the USUAF Honorary Secretary.
We welcome volunteers to help us out with our numerous programs and events, mentor our student leaders, provide tutoring, research assistance, and internship opportunities. So spread the word to encourage other USU alumni and friends to get involved.
