Postgraduate Research Students’ Society (PReSS) @ Kolling
The Postgraduate Research Students' Society (PReSS) is a student-run society for postgraduate students at the Northern (Arabanoo) Precinct / Northern Clinical School. Established in 1994, the society has helped students across the Northern (Arabanoo) Precinct form social and professional connections, through regular social and networking events typically held at our satellite campus – the Kolling Institute – in the Northern Clinical School. Formally represented by the North Shore Local Health District, the society is now proud to be officially recognised under the University of Sydney Union, allowing us to expand and help strengthen the social and professional environment of our HDR community.
We've been around since 1994, big and small. Join us to be a part of the history of the Kolling Institute and the Northern Clinical School / Northern (Arabanoo) Precinct. While 'postgraduate' and 'student' is in our name, we have come to learn the value of sharing the experience and comradery between everyone, from Honours Students to Professors and Professional Staff, everyone is welcome to share in the love and help spread their experience and wins through engaging with the social and academic life that we thrive to embrace and lift in the community.
Who doesn't love free food, fun times and making new friends?
(Kolling Institute can be an isolating place, so make sure you find your feet and join us at the next event to really take advantage of the great community that we are – even if you are not on site, we still welcome and invite everyone to help relight the social aspect of being a researcher).
In 2024 we will be hosting monthly events!
Anything from sunny-day BBQs, fun food and trivia nights, to hard-working shut-up-and-write sessions, or even joint conference-style seminars with other local communities…
…But that doesn't stop you from reaching out and asking us to organise even more social gatherings throughout the year! We are a friendly crew and happy to do a callout for lunchtime walks and coffee splurges – whatever you can think of, we can help make it happen 🙂
